Norwegian Cooperation Programme

The overall objective of the program is to enhance the nuclear safety in Bulgaria. The project focuses on a series of training programmes to develop NRA and KNPP to serve as an example for other countries at various stages of nuclear power generation development. The training will be provided through training of staff on issues like regulatory instruments such as: regulations, guidelines, documents and quality assurance of regulatory activities in order to bring them to the highest international standards.
Through the involvement of IAEA the project seeks to ensure that IAEA’s mechanisms to safeguard the quality aspects of the project is taken into consideration.
The programme also aims to develop the regulator and operator to a level of sustainable excellence that will be recognized as a model for others to follow.
