Safe Nuclear Energy – Regional Program for excellence

On 19th and 20th January 2010 at the NRA Headquarters was held an opening meeting under the regional program for excellence: Safe Nuclear Energy. The meeting was part of the regional collaboration program between Norway, Romania and Bulgaria in cooperation with the IAEA, the Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority (NRPA) and KzNPP.
The purpose of the meeting was to increase the level of nuclear safety in Bulgaria and to prepare training programs for the NRA and KzNPP employees, which will be an example to other countries, which are at different levels of embarking on a nuclear energy program. As a result the following will be developed and implemented:
- NRA methodology for assessment of the safety culture;
- NRA program for assessment of the emergency preparedness and response;
- Program for assessment of the safety culture at the operating organization KzNPP;
- KzNPP program for determinating of the scenario and the critical areas, related to the transportation of nuclear material;
- Conducting an emergency exercise at the KzNPP.
The program includes four projects:
- NRA 1 – Assessment of the safety culture;
- NRA 2 – Emergency preparedness and response;
- KzNPP 1 – Enhancement the safety culture at the operating organization;
- KzNPP 2 – Emergency preparedness and response.
