Training course on Preparation, conduct and evaluation of exercises to test preparedness for a nuclear or radiological emergency

The training course on Preparation, conduct and evaluation of exercises to test preparedness for a nuclear or radiological emergency was held between 07 - 11 June 2010 in the Emergency Center at the NRA headquarters. The training was conducted under the regional program between the Republic of Bulgaria and Norway and Romania on Excellence in Safe Nuclear Energy.
21 experts from the NRA, Ministry of Interior (civil protection and fire brigade), Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environment and Water and Kozloduy NPP participated in the training. Leading experts from the IAEA and the Hungarian Nuclear Regulatory Authority were lecturers at the course.
The purpose of conducting the training was to present modern concepts, terminology, preparation process for the conduct and evaluation of the exercise to test preparedness for nuclear or radiological emergency. Within the framework of the training the participants prepared scenario and conducted a table-top exercise for response in case of transport accident with vehicle transporting radioactive materials.
