The project “Enhancement of BNRA’s capabilities to assess the safety culture of its licensees” part of the Bulgarian-Norway programme started

The first expert mission of the project ”Enhancement of BNRA’s capabilities to assess the safety culture of its licensees” from the Regional programme for excellence: Safe Nuclear Energy between Bulgaria, Norway and Romania was held between 31st May and 4th June 2010 in the training centre in NRA Headquarters.
The representatives of Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority (NRPA), IAEA, Delft University, Netherlands and BNRA took part in the mission.
The evaluation of the current status of the safety culture of the holders of licenses and permits and the determination of the safety culture oversight programme framework of the licensees were the objectives of the mission.
The IAEA experts were acquainted with BNRA understanding of safety culture concept as well as BNRA’s activities in relation with safety culture oversight as a result of the presentations, interviews and discussions carried out by NRA representatives.
At the meeting were specified BNRA expectations related to the safety culture oversight programme development and implementation as well as an agreement was achieved about the detailed plan and final results from the project implementation.
