IAEA IPSART follow up mission for review and assessment of probabilistic safety assessments reports of Belene NPP

On 18 October 2010 started a follow up IPSART mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for review and assessment of probabilistic safety assessments reports (PSA), revision 2 of Belene NPP. The purpose of the follow up mission is to identify the level of implementation of the previous IAEA IPSART mission recommendations, carried out in 2009 and to verify that the PSA reports are brought into correspondence with the IAEA applicable requirements and standards. The mission will continue until 22 October 2010.
In acordance with the IAEA general rules and also in order to improve the effectiveness of the follow up mission, the participation of experts from the National Electricity Company was ensured, their consultants - RISK ENGINEERING PLC and the Belene NPP architect – engineer WorleyParsons Europe Energy Services, as well as the authors of PSA reports, revision 2 - JSC Atomenergoproekt, OKB “GIDROPRESS”, RCS "Kurchatov institute", which are the subcontractors of the JSC Atomstroyexport - main vendor, designer, constructor and supplier for Belene NPP units 1 and 2.
