The Nuclear Regulatory Agency is hosting from 9 to 13 July a training for regulatory inspections of nuclear power plants in operation. The training is carried out under a project of the European Commission “Training and Tutoring for experts of the NRAs and their TSOs for development or strengthening their regulatory and technical capabilities”. The training in Sofia includes 9 participants from the regulatory bodies of Thailand, Jordan, Brazil, Vietnam, Mongolia and Indonesia. In the scope of five days, NRA experts and specialists from the Italian Nuclear and Radiation Safety and Security Organization, ITER Consult will familiarize the participants with the main aspects of regulatory inspections during the operation of the NPP and the latest EU directives on nuclear and radiation safety. The reference international standards and safety requirements will also be addressed.

The program includes a visit to the Kozloduy NPP, where the participants will have the opportunity to learn about the activities performed during a regulatory inspection on the spot, as well as the role and tasks of the regulatory inspector.

Two of the participants will continue the training course with a two-month practical part to be held at the NRA and the Kozloduy NPP.
