Event Title: 12-th diesel generator (DG-12) taken out of service

Event description:

Kozloduy NPP Unit 1 is in operational mode “E” without nuclear fuel in the reactor and in the spent fuel pool. A scheduled testing of the mobile diesel generator is being performed. Due to technical reasons DG-11 and DG-12 are in standby mode. According to the testing procedure, the two standby diesel generators are taken out of stand by mode. While performing the procedure DG-11 and DG 12 receive continuous start-up signals and as a result the two diesel generators’ coils for the start-up compressed air burn out. A weakness in the mobile DG testing procedure was found.

At 15:30 the burnt out coils are replaced, and the DG-11 and DG-12 standby mode is resumed. There were no violations of the operational limits and conditions.

A commission for investigation of the causes and elimination of the failure has been appointed.
